Author Biography
John Moss
began his educational leadership career teaching in London,
England, before moving to Manitoba where he served as a teacher,
school administrator, and superintendent. After 24 years in
Manitoba, Dr. Moss became superintendent for School District
69 (Qualicum) on Vancouver Island in 1992.
Dr. Moss was an original member of the panel which toured
British Columbia in 2002-2003 and wrote the Charter for Public
Education. He co-founded the Charter for Public Education
Network (CPEN), a non-profit, non-partisan membership based
organization supporting public education, and more recently
helped create the Public Education Research Foundation. He
continues to serve as executive director for these organizations.
He also serves on the Board of Governors for Malaspina University-College
on Vancouver Island.
In January, 2006 Dr. Moss was appointed as Research Director
for the School Leadership Centre.
Dr. Moss has studied at the University of Winnipeg, University
of Manitoba, and gained a doctorate in Educational Leadership
and Policy from the University of British Columbia. He can
